Weblog post to Mastodon

It just occurred to me that it would be very nice if I could enable cross-posting from my weblog.lol site to social.lol (maybe also to other mastodon instances).

I don’t know how technically complex that would be, though.

Very cool idea! Posting to social.lol would be easy enough, but once I have the code worked out to post Statuslog entries to other instances as well, then I should be able to bring all of that to weblog posts too. Will dig into it!

I’ve been doing this manually, and embedding the toot to use it as a place for comments (none yet, but hope springs eternal!).

I’d use this feature

Hey Adam,

Did this ever happen? I know we can post status.lol updates to social.lol now can we post weblog too?

Cheers

Or, just make it ActivityPub-compliant and you can follow it from mastodon (and you can boost it)?

To elaborate, I’d like the option to post a “Just posted a blog post: Blog Post (link)” to Mastodon. Auto notify when posting. Perhaps even customize the toot in a Toot: frontmatter directive.

I doubt many weblog posts will fit within Mastodon character limit and I don’t think we should have the feature to barrage feeds with a “1/4, 2/4, etc” post chain. Don’t send the weblog post in it’s entirety. Please.

It hasn’t happened yet, but I do plan to get to it. Time is always a challenge but it’s going to happen!

Yeah, the implementation that I’m envisioning is something like a small template in your weblog config where you could make it say whatever you’d like and use variables like $title, $url, $date, etc.
