Copy Link to Entry

IMHO it would be very helpful to be able to display the URL of an entry to be able to link to it within another post. (Like those really helpful buttons on pictures.lol or the purls.) Right now I always open the preview and strip the suffix of the URL. And maybe a “github mode”, that hides the textfield or makes it smaller and read only?

Got it — will add this over the weekend!

I completed the first part of your request here, so now it’s easy to copy the URL to any post in the weblog UI. The second part about the Git-based content workflow is going to take a little more thought. I really want to get to a point where I can support both content workflows in harmony. Going to think about how best to handle it and will get something in place for that once I have a good solution!

Awesome, thanks! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Just a heads up that this currently seems to ignore external URLs. My weblog, probably.blog, shows as georgeprobably.weblog.lol even though I have the domain set in switchboard and it’s the canonical URL in the config file.

Same here. Not sure what it should do if you have more than one external URL configured in switchboard pointing to your weblog but it probably “should” stick to the domain in the configuration.txt. (I guess this is what the canonical domain entry could be used for, couldn’t it?)

Sorry about that, @georgeprobably and @esamecar — this has been updated, and canonical domains are now respected in that field. :slightly_smiling_face:

@adam , thanks again! And please no “sorry”! I signed up for omg.lol when weblog.lol didn’t even exist. Everything about this is just great and definitely not a given for me. I feel a little uncomfortable wishing for something since you’re the only one who can implement, fix, and maintain it all. I hope the project continues to bring you joy above all else. I still try to think of it as “I’m paying for a fun subdomain”, as you told the Hemispheric Views guys someday, and I’m happy for anything great you come up with here. Did I already say thank you?:slightly_smiling_face:
